Hi everyone,

I’m sorry for the lack of posts lately.
I am actually in the middle of transferring my current blog to my own self hosted blog. So the blog could be down for a day or so.

It will bring a new theme, a new header and a few other bits. So stay tuned. 🙂

Dublin Zoo

At the weekend we went to Dublin. It was time to show Matthew some wild animals. He enjoyed the trip if we take out the bit to actually travel there.
I didn’t think it was start off too good for us at first because once we arrived it started to rain. Luckily we needed to have some lunch first anyway. By the time we were finished it stopped and we had lovely sunshine and it was really warm. Perfect for going to the zoo.

Matthew enjoyed every bit of the zoo. The most obsession he had with the goats and the chickens. Unfortunately no cats for him. 🙂 But he had Bailey to harass again once we got home the next day.

Sunday we went for a bite to eat. After a long discussion we decided to go to Blanchardstown and eat in TGI Fridays. It was yum as always. As the picture can tell.

2014-07-06 13.12.21“Num Num” as Matthew calls it.

After the food we went off for some shopping. As always I ended up buying something for Matthew and nothing for me. Online Shopping is just the better and comfier option. I think a few people might agree with me on that. 😉

Next few weekends are planned out already so keeping you up to date.

Cool dude

What a lovely day it was today. Sunny all, blue sky, perfect for a family day out.

Started off with a nice walk in the morning in Strandhill. Of course I needed to have an ice cream in that beautiful weather. We found this new playground in Strandhill by strolling around a caravan car park. So much better than the one in the park near our house. Think this will be the go to place now.

In the afternoon we met up with our German friends in Bundoran. Plan was to go to Water World which changed a bit. First of all Matthew’s nap went on a bit late and then second sea session was on. So the place was absolutely packed with the lovely weather on top of that. So you can imagine how annoying it can be to look for a space for 30mins. Found one eventually but friends were already finished. We went in anyway for 45mins.
Matthew wasn’t so sure at the start. He cried his eyes out in fact. There was this cup thing in the toddler pool that spilled water every now and then. He wasn’t sure what to make of it.
Eventually he came around after 15mins and we had some great swim time in the big pool. He absolutely loved it in the end. So looks like we might bring him more often now during the summer.

After that we went for something to eat in KFC. Even though we said no fast food this time. 😀 but the town was packed with drunk people from the festival.

Weekend flew. Back to work tomorrow.

Weekend you are here!

So it is finally the weekend. Just in time for publishing my newly designed header for my blog. Let me know what you think.

Overtime I might be changing a few more things around or add on more things but I have to come up with something first. 🙂 Please let me know what else you would like to see or would like to be updated about.

This weekend is actually going to be a busy one. Tomorrow we have a birthday including a BBQ coming up and on Sunday we will be going to a family event near Sligo. I’ll be updating you about both events.
But most importantly Germany’s second match will be on in the World Cup. Going to be a busy evening for us.

This evening we had one of the best dinners in a long time. They finally had German sausages in Lidl again. Perfect opportunity to have the below:

World Cup fever

You were all probably wondering why I haven’t updated in a while.
Well there’s 2 reasons to it. Mainly it’s because the world cup is on now and in our family it’s all about watching the Germany matches. Secretly I hope they win it and they have a good chance but the Netherlands aren’t so bad either.
The second reason why I have been keeping quite is because I am trying to update my blog a bit. So its friendlier looking with a proper header in it so it finds more interest for people.
So stay tuned. 🙂

Question for you in the meanwhile… Who do you think is going to win the world cup?

Tenerife Holiday

So Wednesday, 28th May 2014, Karo and I were finally approaching our free holiday in Tenerife.
After a long flight for both of us we finally met at Tenerife South Airport at 7pm, took our rental car and drove to the Spring Hotel Vulcano. As we didn’t have a sat nav we drove around in circles first. *lol* But after studying the map a bit better we got there eventually. 🙂

First stop after the check-in was dinner. We had half board with a buffet every morning and evening. So you can imagine we ate a lot over that week. We actually planned on taking a photo of a big plate full of dessert that we ate on a daily basis. *lol*

First day was really Thursday. We took it easy for the first day and went to the beach to catch some sun.

I went for a swim in the atlantic ocean as well. It was a bit cold at first but alright after.

We walked a long the promenade after. And only in the evening we noticed that we got maybe a bit too much sun. 🙂

Day 3, Friday 30th May 2014, we drove up North to the Loro Park. It’s only an hour away. That’s how small the island is. It is amazing how the weather can change in that hour. From 25 degrees to 14 degrees because it is up in the mountains with fog and rain!

I’ve been to this park with my mum a few years ago but I think they have added a few new things in the mean time.
This is Loro Parque in pictures:

Day 4, Saturday 31st May 2014, we drove up up the “gigantic”cliffs called Los Gigantes.

There is this old tree up further north called El Drago. So drove up the mountains to look for it but ended up just going to the town that was hit by a vulcano hundred years ago as the roads were ridiculous getting around. So many bends!

In the afternoon we went to Hard Rock Cafe for a cocktail and some food.

In the evening we decided to watch the sunset.

Monday we went to a water park only around the corner from us called Siam Park. I didn’t take any photos because most was slides. Great fun! I recommend it to anyone who is going to Tenerife.

Some slides were quite scary. One was called “The tower of power”. It was straight down through a tunnel full of sharks god knows how high it was. I queued for it with Karo… but didn’t have the guts then and waited at the bottom for her. 🙂

Our last evening we captured the sunset one more time and got a guy to do a caricature. Pretty funny looking. 🙂 Also we found a sweet shop after a few days. Most is Haribo! Delicious!

Here are some more photos we took the last day of the beach…

The day of our departure we treated ourselves to a nice lunch outside in the sun. Sandwich, tomato soup and Spaghetti Bolognese.

That was our trip. Very relaxing week. And as a result of the sun and the heat I am tanned. 😀 No longer white. *lol*

Happy reading. And don’t forget to share my blog. 🙂

Breakie Time at the Beach

Yesterday morning we decided to go to Strandhill for an Irish Breakfast in the lovely cafe Shell’s right beside the beach. They have amazing food! Not just the breakfast but everything else, too. Everything is homemade. I cannot recommend it enough. They actually have their own cook book now since a few years.

Not to mention that they actually now have a shop called The Little Shop. Take a look. They have some great stuff.

Last night we went out to Strandhill to see the sunset because it was the perfect weather for it. Thank god we went. Look at these amazing shots…

Lunch & Landscape

Yesterday we went for food in Strandhill with Dermot and Matthew, too. Of course our favourite restaurant Bella Vista.
We went to have some yummy ice cream after. There is this new place at the beach called “Mamma Johnston’s”. They have mad flavours of ice cream. Just to mention a few of them Snickers, Bueno, Oreo, Bubble Gum. I had a scoop of Blue Smurf and Snickers. Matthew enjoyed some Blue Smurf too. Up to he didn’t like ice cream at all. He didn’t know what to make of the shape and how cold it is.

Later in the afternoon Karo and me went off again for a bit of sightseeing around the area to see if we can find anything new we haven’t seen yet. And we found some lovely beaches.
There is the main one called Streedagh just 10 mins outside of Sligo.

We discovered another beach beside the other one and decided to have a stroll around. Amazing views!

2014-05-24 16.57.25 As you can see in that picture, it is rock all over. Karo decided to do a bit of climbing around to see what’s behind it. You would think there is nothing there like on the picture but there is such a beautiful view on the ocean behind this.

Great spot to get some lovely landscape photos though. I didn’t regret that we went.

Wedding time

My friend and godmother Karo to Matthew came over on Thursday for a visit. Well, mainly for a wedding of a friend of hers. 🙂
Friday was the big day her friend and ex work colleague Jule got married.
The ceremony was in Boyle 30 mins down the road.

DSC04435 The wedding bus

After the ceremony we drove to Kilronan Castle where the reception was held. With a bit of difficulty at the start we got there eventually. 🙂

DSC04438 The wedding cake

The setup was very well done I have to say. I loved the idea of using Chalkboards around the area. Definitely a different touch to a wedding.

  Cutting the cake

The wedding favours they had were Gingerbread “Lebkuchen” as the bride is originally from Germany.
The food itself was delicious. I never complain about food ever anyway. 🙂 The starter was Goats Cheese with a bit of salad. I never really liked Goats Cheese but I gave it a try this time and it was really nice with the salad. The sub starter was yummy too. It was a sorbet.
For main course we had a choice of Beef or Sea Bass. We went for the beef. Loved it of course! The vegetables with it were amazing. So tasty! I am actually getting hungry now writing this.
For dessert we had panacotta. Tasty too of course. Thumbs up!

Karo and I didn’t stay overnight and we also didn’t know anyone at the party anyways, so we drove back to Sligo at midnight. Had a great time though.

It’ always great to go to all sorts of weddings, that way I can take note for my own one. 🙂
